Piano Quintet op. 81 - Piano Quintet op. 5
Borodin Quartet
Philips 2006
This music by Dvořák gives body and voice to a kind of beauty we are not accustomed to, a beauty that enlarges the heart. We are more accustomed to a kind of beauty that narrows the heart, makes it feel a lack, a nostalgia, a longing for something that is not there. Here, instead, is a deeper breath, because beauty is the door through which the Mystery presents itself to human experience, and offers a glimpse of itself as the consistency of things.
